Event History
Friends 3 a celebration of the spoken word
founded 2002
With the support of it‘s founders and friends, THE SPOKEN WORD event has been presented at private residences and community rooms in Los Angeles & Beverly Hills to an appreciative diverse audience.
A catered lunch is followed by THE SPOKEN WORD performed by celebrity guests.
It is presented once a year with different themes alternating between Black History Month, Woman’s History Month, Music History Month, and Kwanza Celebrations.
Performances are videotaped and shared with the Los Angeles Unified School District
to inspire young artist with the power of the spoken word.
Supported by California elected officials, THE SPOKEN WORD was invited to perform at the National Black Caucus for Congresswoman Diane E. Watson’s Midnight Soirée in Washington, D.C. for members of the caucus and visitors from across the country. THE SPOKEN WORD was also invited by Congresswoman Maxine Waters to perform at a dinner she hosted at the LAX Radisson Hotel for members of the Congressional Black Caucus and community leaders.
